Norma’s Class – Same pupils but on a considerably different and later date!
An unexpected opportunity for this photo of a ‘mini reunion’ – taken some 60 years after a similar one with the same participants would have been possible came about when it was suddenly realised that not only was Norma Pepperell present at the ‘social bit’ after a MDC/CMMF Committee Meeting in June 2024, but so were 5 ‘remnants’ of one of her classes at Mark House! Hence the rush to get a camera out and usher her former pupils into this suitable pose!
It was a really a ‘eureka’ and clearly nostalgic moment in which to take immediate advantage of this and to get a photo of them together – without a blackboard, text book or ink well in sight – and obviously taken during a modest lunch time ‘tipple’ – followed by much contemplation of whether their other 20 or so former class mates might be located for a similiar gathering in the future!
The photo was, of course, duly included in the subsequent MDC Newsletter and thereafter on the Mark House School Face Book page – with the hope that it might just catch the attention of a few more of Norma’s former pupils and encourage them to join Cleve Edmonston, John Oatham, Keith Sullivan, June Heath (Allitt) and Bob Jackson, all pictured here, for the next photo opportunity!
Sadly missing from this photograph are Sid Worth and Bill Chapman who were part of this really close-knit group of School/Drama Club friends.
