This ‘mini’ version of Cinderella was both the first pantomime to be staged at Markhouse and also the first production entirely written (all in rhyming couplets) by a number of Drama Club members who were also in the school’s 5th year group at that time – and obviously completing this task as a respite between their GCE mocks!
The full, unexpurgated script is now ‘in our hands’ and this includes details of the main Cast List – shown below! No record is available of the cast of the ‘walk on – non speaking and bit part’ characters; although it is believed that these were played by members of the School Staff with the aid of the ‘Jack Roberts’ Chorale!
The Cast List also shows that a number of pupils from 4X (Fourth Year) and the sole remaining occupant of 6X (Sixth Year)(Mick Rumsey) were involved in both performance and backstage roles
