‘Spot The Lady’ by Douglas Bryce-Pitt

This was the first of three productions of Douglas Bryce Pitt’s hilarious and richly written pantomime/burlesque style One Act Play based on ‘the Scottish Play’ – so perhaps the Drama Club’s initial, and only, foray into the world of William Shakespeare?

The further productions in 1962 and 1963 probably come as no surprise to those involved in the Drama Club at that time and many may well have the view that this, along with the One Act Play of ‘Hip Hip Horatious’ that shared the stage in the 1962 version, led to the view that the end of each year should have a similar style of production – hence the long series of Xmas Pantomimes that soon followed!

Unfortunately we have not found any actual memorabilia from this production other that of a copy of the script – which is actually something of a treasure in itself (and which includes the Author’s own ‘Note’ that is reproduced below)  in that the play is no longer in print!
