Unlike the two Re-Unions in 2012, which were held midweek and mainly attended by former members still fairly near to the Walthamstow area, this one was arranged for a weekend with the hope of enabling those from ‘further’ afield to also make the event.
This hope proved to the be fulfilled with, as the photograph shows, some 30 former members attending an enjoyable evening at the Royal Forest Hotel in Chingford – plus, for those ‘staying over’, a chatty breakfast and a nostalgic stroll around the Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge. Some were even reported to have also had a stroll down Walthamstow High Street earlier on the Saturday – albeit reporting that it was not as nostalgic as anticipated – as besides Manzes Pie & Eel Shop, Mission Grove School and the Main Library, not much was left from those earlier days – not even Woolworth’s – nor the school – as by this time only the front two gates had survived!
