Guardian Newspaper Reports
- 1956: ‘To be shown at Olympia’. Markhouse items to be shown at Olympia’
- 1956: ‘Local handicrafts at Olympia Exhibition’ ‘Walthamstow’s Schools entries – all from Markhouse!
- 1956: ‘Praise for Craft Boys of Markhouse Road’ – ‘Only Walthamstow School obtains 22 certificates of merit.’
- 1958: ‘Bigger and better show of youth hobbies this year’. Markhouse School and Marsh Street Youth Centre defending their 1957 challenge trophies.
The McEntee Award
- 1964: Guardian Report showing Dave King and two other young people who shared the prestigious borough wide McEntee Award. As far as is known, Dave is the only MDC member to have achieved this. So, belated congratulations to him! The report also confirms that the Markhouse School winner of this trophy in 1964 was Janet Grace
School Staff.
- 1958: New Headmaster Honoured – Les Smith appointed to the Historian Society

MARSH STREET YOUTH CENTRE – A new website section
- ‘Roof Spectacular’ Marsh Street Youth Centre Fete. Guardian Report featuring a number of MDC members
- ‘A Piece of Victoriana’. A Walthamstow Independent Report on the ‘new ‘Coffee Bar in the Markhouse building shortly after it was re-established as the Marsh Street Youth Centre
CMMF PROJECTS
- Kelmscott Project. A new entry has been added to the CMMF page for this most recent Performing Arts Project that was run at Kelmscott School in Walthamstow. The report provides an outline of the project and a number of photos taken in rehearsal (with the Trestle Theatre Company) and the final performance in the school’s Drama Studio in this July

SCHOOL CLOSURE: A new and detailed report on the closure of Markhouse School in 1966, based on research of the Walthamstow Education Committee Minutes and the Walthamstow Guardian and Walthamstow Independent Newspaper Reports, will be added to the website in due course
